  • Introduction: The aim was to determine the role of NMDA receptors in the antidepressant-like effects of diosmetin.
  • Methods: Mice received diosmetin, an NMDA agonist, an NMDA antagonist (ketamine), and combinations. The FST, TST, and OFT were used.
  • Results: Diosmetin decreased immobility time and augmented CA3 diameter. Ketamine potentiated while NMDA attenuated these effects
  • Conclusion: Diosmetin exerted an antidepressant-like effect, mediated partly by NMDA receptors and a neuroprotective effect on the hippocampus.
  • Keywords: diosmetin, depression, NMDA receptor, hippocampus.
