  • Introduction: Breast cancer (BC) is a heterogeneous disease. It is the most cause of cancer-mortality among women all over the word. New biomarkers identification and methods are essential for BC treatment. Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) are biomarkers that can effect in BC as tumor suppressor genes or oncogenes.
  • Methods: In this study, blood specimens were collected from 30 normal healthy women and 30 breast cancer patients. RNA was extracted from the whole blood and then cDNA was synthesized. Real-Time PCR technique was used for measuring the expression level of CCAT1 (Colon-cancer associated transcript-1) and GAS5 (growth arrest-specific transcript 5) LncRNAs.
  • Results: Expression level of CCAT1 LncRNA was significantly increased while GAS5 LncRNA expression was decreased in BC patients. Then, the level of expression was compared in patients and normal women
  • Conclusion: The key roles of LncRNAs in biological regulation have been recognized in many kinds of cancers. Up-regulated CCAT1 and down-regulated of GAS5 LncRNAs in Iranian BC patients can be used as BC biomarkers. LncRNA deregulations can also be used in BC treatment, in future.
