  • Introduction: Today, not only in Iran, but throughout the world, the tendency toward herbal medicine has increased. Medicinal plants are rich from compounds that have properties, including antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-cancer. Due to the need to use these compounds and its valuable benefits for humans, extraction and application of medicinal plant extracts was considered. Therefore, it is necessary to find a suitable method for using the medicinal properties of these plants in order to maintain its quality.
  • Methods: To carry out this research, the essential oil was extracted and then used as a nano-capsule using the hydrogel Astraglus gossypinus. in this study, the anti-microbial effects of different extracts of this plant on gram positive and negative bacteria were evaluated using diffusion discs And its antioxidant property was tested using DPPH. Also, the inhibitory effects of nanocapsules on cancer cells were studied.
  • Results: For this purpose, the cells were exposed to different concentrations of plant extracts during different time periods. Then, microscopic and MTT assays were performed to evaluate the cytotoxic effects of plant extract.
  • Conclusion: In the second phase of the project, we first examined the antioxidant power of the essential oil and nano-capsule, and the results showed that fennel essential oil can act as a natural antioxidant when converted to nanocapsule.
