  • Introduction: A significant number of women are undergoing hysterectomy every year, and this surgery is done much more than many other common surgical procedures. According to studies physical dysfunction, overweight and obesity, decreased quality of sex, dyspareunia, shortening of vaginal length, chronic pelvic infection are complications of hysterectomy. Therefore this study was conducted to determine the educational needs of women in physical dimension after hysterectomy referred to the educational hospitals in Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences in 2018.
  • Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study. The sample size was 190 women who were undergoing hysterectomy that were selected by random sampling. Data were collected using by the educational needs of women hysterectomy questionnaire that prepared by deductive, then its psychometric evaluation performed. For ease of analysis, SPSS 18 was used. Educational needs categories based on Likert low, moderate, and severe. Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test was used.
  • Results: Reliability of tool was 0/97 and it was acceptable validity. The average of needs respectively in physical dimension was 13.7.
  • Conclusion: Although there are sporadic attempts to create some types of training for women with hysterectomies, there is no coherent and structured information to illustrate the actual educational needs of patients. The results of this study suggest that there is an urgent need for physical information related to hysterectomy. The mean score of educational needs of physical dimension was considerable. Therefore, Due to the importance of physical dimension and its role in couple relations, is required to provide the conditions for physical counseling before hysterectomy.
