  • Introduction: An infectious gum disease is called periodontitis or periodontitis.it's a word that covers a wide range of infectious gum diseases.But periodontitis is inherently a continuation of general gingivitis and generally It is the genetics that is created by bacteria to inflammation and irrevocable loss of limit Gum stickiness, destruction of the aluole bone and loss of teeth. Periodontal including diseases that may progress without any symptoms,But a number of important symptoms include gum bleeding while brushing, swelling of the gum, halitosis, tooth and gum deformity.Factors such as hormonal changes, diseases such as cancer and AIDS, medicines, inappropriate health habits and bad habits like smoking causes periodontal occur and intensity and throughout the article, we process the reason of their impact on periodontal severity. The following are four important steps in the process of the disease and its history and effects on communities and different age group are checked. One of the prominent goals of this article is awareness, attitude and health of people and reduce the growing trend of people suffering from this disease that are being scientifically investigated from various aspects and its association with other diseases, including diabetes, dental caries, cardiovascular problems, pregnancy and abortion, is analyzed.
  • Methods: In this article, academic books and research have been used and articles and journals are obtained from reputable databases such as google scholar, magiran and experts in this field.In this regard, more than twenty articles that fits with the title, was reviewed and finally with six selected articles, the writing of the article was done. In this article attempted to use and analyze statistics that obtained from different statistical societies,To get closer to it's goals.In all, three months were spent for collecting, reviewing, analyzing resources and writing the article and all content that collected from 2012 to 2018 is the most up-to-date.
  • Results: By studying other articles and journals of authoritative research, we thoroughly investigated oral and periodontal infections and the factors affecting its occurrence and severity and we analyzed the diseases that associated with it.Based on research done, lifestyle changes can play a role in reducing the incidence and speeding up recovery, such as quitting smoking, which has shown that Smokers are seven times more than others have periodontal disease and reduces the chance of their treatment. Reduce stress, which slows down the immune system's fight with any infection and a balanced diet helps the immune system and consumption of antioxidant-rich foods and vitamins E and C,helps heal tissue damage.One of the study about relationship between periodontal and dental caries, showed decayed teeth in the periodontal group was 4/32 and in the healthy group was 2/16.Tooth decay in periodontal patients is 4/85 in males and 4/3 in females that shows peoples with periodontal disease have more decayed teeth than healthy people.Three hundred smokers, with a mean age of 32 years, showed that only 14.3% of them were due to problems with Oral and dental consultations,they have tried to quit smoking.In general, women have more information about periodontal than smokers and non-smokers men. The audience said, their information concerning the effect of smoking on periodontal health, 61/3% of Television and 56/7% were obtained by those around them and only 16/7% by consulting a dentist. Discovered in new studies,that inflammatory disorders directly affect the nervous system,Increased peripheral cytokines directly affect areas of the brain that are involved in depression and reduce levels of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine that causes mental disorders.
  • Conclusion: Dental plaque’s control that contains use of toothbrush, toothpaste and antibacterial mouthwash can prevent the spread and continue of the disease and if symptoms appear, see a dentist immediately for a diagnosis, medication, or surgery.Infection of gums and teeth in children must be taken seriously and in case seeing the symptoms during pregnancy, you should let your doctor to know about your condition. Because statistics and people information about oral infection and other diseases that associated with it and its symptoms and factors are Extremely limited, Must be using media and cultural centers and checkup to reduce the incidence of such diseases and increase the level of community health.
