The effect of stem cell therapy on the recovery of autoimmune disease

Introduction: Autoimmune diseases is kind of diseases which can be caused by an abnormal immune response to a normal body part. There are at least 80 types of autoimmune diseases. In this case, almost every part of body can be involved. And as common symptoms we can name, low grade fever and feeling tired. The stem cell is the mother of all cells and have an ability to transform into all the cells of body. These cells are capable of self-renewing and differentiating into a variety of cells, including blood, heart, nerve and chondrocytes. In addition, they are also effective in repairing of various defective tissues of the body following injury and can transplant into damaged tissue where most of their cells have been destroyed, replacing damaged cells.
The aim of this study was the effect of stem cell therapy on recovery of autoimmune diseases.
Methods: We searched pubmed, google scholar until august 2019 with stem cell, autoimmune diseases and development keywords. By searching these databases, only 238 articles were found in pubmed and about 500 articles were found in google scholar. From 738 articles which investigated by their titles, we excluded 100 articles and after that, reading to their abstract we excluded 38 articles. Finally, we include 8 articles into our study and compare their results to each other.
Results: According to the reviewed articles, new stem cell therapies have been found with the discovery of stem cell hubs, and these cells have shown a significant impact on the treatment of autoimmune and cancer diseases. There is an answer that has not been addressed yet and needs to be further explored. Sclerosis can be cured with different therapies, which some kind of them are inadequate and relieve the disease, and that is why the cell-based therapies attract many attentions to cure these disorders. Mentioned stem cell therapy can be followed by autologous stem cell transplantation. Mesenchymal stem cells and stem cells have an important role in autoimmune diseases curing process.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that that stem cell therapy is an effective way to cure almost every autoimmune diseases. Notably, more investigation about all of the single disorders for finding the best remedy in every single autoimmune disease, is a necessity.
