  • Introduction: Introduction: Quality of life is the perception of each person about their health status and their satisfaction with it. The World Health Organization recognizes a person's understanding of his or her place in life within the context of the culture system and the values in which he or she lives, which is related to his or her goals, expectations, standards, and concerns. Anxiety is a natural emotional feeling in humans, which everyone experiences in their living conditions. Psychological problems are an important issue in the health of pregnant women. Anxiety is one of the most common mental disorders during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. Anxiety, in addition to impaired nervous system development, infants' physical and mental health, and behavioral impairment also lead to a decline in the quality of life for mothers. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between quality of life and anxiety in pregnant women referred to Yazd health center in 2019.
  • Methods: Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the relationship between quality of life and anxiety in pregnant women referred to Yazd health center in 2019. Pregnant women referred to Yazd health center were studied. Two questionnaires were used for data collection. The first questionnaire was related to the World Health Organization Quality of Life - WHOQOL-BREF standard questionnaire with 26 questions and 4 components of physical health, mental health, social relationships and environmental health. The second questionnaire related to Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) had 21 questions. The validity and reliability of this questionnaire were also confirmed. Data analysis was done by SPSS 24 software.
  • Results: Results: 215 pregnant women participated in this study. 68% of these women experienced their first pregnancy. The findings of the study showed a significant inverse relationship between quality of life and anxiety (in other words, the more stress and anxiety in pregnant women, the lower their quality of life). Among the four components of quality of life, the components of physical health and mental health had a significant inverse relationship with anxiety. It should also be noted that the mean score of mental health in pregnant women was low.
  • Conclusion: Conclusion: It is suggested that during pregnancy care, mothers be screened for mental status to be educated to improve the mental health of pregnant mothers in case of anxiety, modification and coping with anxiety factors. Also, stress management courses and workshops and providing educational solutions for pregnant women have a great impact on improving their quality of life.
