  • Introduction: Introduction: Osteoporosis is a chronic and most common metabolic bone disease that reduces bone mass, bone mass in women of any age group is lower than men, according to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, 200 million people worldwide suffer from this disease. According to the latest statistics available in Iran, osteoporosis is 8.4% of men and 7.7% of women in the country.Cow's milk is an excellent source of calcium and contains beneficial factors such as phosphate, magnesium, and protein for bone metabolism. Drink soy milk from soybeans and contain similar amounts of protein to cow's milk Calcium in milk and soy from osteoporosis The aim of this study was to compare the effect of soy milk and cow's milk in preventing osteoporosis.
  • Methods: Methods : We searched the databases of pubmed , google scholar, SID , cochrane from 1996 to 2018 by filing Persian and English articles using the terms osteoporosis, soy milk, cows milk. The review articles consisted of 40 articles that were searched in the Google Scholar database of 26 articles, in the pubmed database of 11 articles. By studying the title of the article, 12 articles were removed, and after abstracting 17 articles, 11 articles remained.
  • Results: Results: Seven papers identified the effect of soy milk and cow's milk on similar osteoporosis, and the amount of calcium absorbed through both sources, stating that soy is the main source of phytoestrogens in the diet as isoflavones and soy isoflavones. It significantly increases bone mineral density by 54% and reduces urinary calcium uptake by 23%, so soy milk can be successfully delivered to the same amount of calcium in cow's milk and can be Substitute for cow's milk in vegetarian diets, menopause and lactose intolerance, number Three other papers reported that soymilk had an effect on osteoporosis but not a significant effect, and further studies on the mechanism of soymilk to prevent osteoporosis should be undertaken. That soy milk has no effect on preventing osteoporosis.
  • Conclusion: Conclusion : According to the results, soy milk, like cow's milk, plays an important role in the prevention of osteoporosis, so it is suggested that soy milk be included in the diet of children and adults, especially women before menopause. It is best to consume it with cow's milk and not replace cow's milk, although it can be used alone in people with lactose intolerance.
