  • Introduction: Depression is a psychic illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. The shortage of particular chemical messengers such as dopamine or serotonin can cause depression.Foodstuffs with unsaturated fats such as omega 3 can increase the neural carriers, so depression will decrease.
  • Methods: This information was collected by the method called "library research", using the "family doctor guide" book wich the author is professor Kwam Mckenzie and also the website of food safety committee: http://foodmed.ir .And has been used the article about "depression" on the MedicalNewsToday's website.
  • Results: studies have demonstrated there is a connection between the shortage of omega 3 and psychic disorders.Because part of cell membrane has been made of omega 3 and increasing this matter helps serotonin to pass cell membrane and go into the cell easier. So omega 3 can affect on amount of serotonin and help the sick person to not be depressed.
  • Conclusion: Adequate consumption of foods such as Salmon fish, shrimp, seaweed, walnut and kidney beans, can increase the omega 3 in the body, so neural messages be transferred sooner and a person can rid of himself from being tired. But eating omega 3 more than usuall will be harmful for immune system.
