• Investigating the Effect of Supplements on Reducing the Risk of Breast Cancer

  • Introduction: Breast cancer is still known to be one of the leading causes of cancer deaths among women throughout the world, with an annualized incidence and mortality rate, according to reports. The use of complementary and alternative medicine in controlling and relieving the side effects associated with cancer plays an important role in the survival and quality of life of women with breast cancer. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of supplements on reducing the risk of breast cancer.
  • Methods: This is a review article aimed at investigating the effect of supplements on reducing the risk of developing breast cancer. All articles, reports, and websites related to this field and the status of the use of the latest technology in this area, were examined by a specific search strategy.
  • Results: The findings indicate that complementary medicine and alternative medicine are relevant to a wide range of health care interventions, such as acupressure and herbal medicines and vitamins, and women with breast cancer tend to use complementary and alternative medicine to use more than those with other malignancies. Complementary and alternative therapies and about 93-63% of these patients use at least one type of complementary and alternative medicine.
  • Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the knowledge and application of complementary and alternative medicine in breast cancer patients is increasing. Healthcare system staff members play an effective role in achieving therapeutic goals by identifying the types of complementary and alternative therapies used by the infected, and providing the necessary training to improve cancer treatment outcomes.
