• Comparing the effects of exercises in water on mental health female patients with low and moderate levels of disease of multiple sclerosis

  • Introduction: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease of the demyelination of central nervous system which is characterized in the nerve by the disruption in the transmission and it is appeared with different clinical symptoms. This study was aimed to investigate aerobic exercises in water, on the speed and endurance of fatigue and quality of life.
  • Methods: The sample of this study included 21 female patient with MS in the 19 to 54 age group and at the low and moderate levels of disease (EDSS4). The patients were classified into tow groups randomly. 11persons were put in the group of exercises in water, and10 patients were put in control group. The participants exercised three times a week for 8 weeks. their fatigue was investigated by the use of FFS scale and MSQOL-54 scale was used to investigate the quality of their lives.
  • Results: According to the findings Fatigue has been significantly decreased in the groups of exercised in water (0.004). Also, quality of life has been significantly increased in the groups of exercised in water (0.000).
  • Conclusion: The information can be helpful and useful in designing the exercise programs for he patients with MS.
