• Psychiatric disorders and sexual quality of life among fertile and infertile women

  • Introduction: Infertility is as a stressful event in individuals and couples life in the world wide. It included both medical and emotional problems. This study was undertaken to assessed and compered psychiatric disorders and sexual quality of life in fertile and infertile women.
  • Methods: Participants consisted of 150 infertile women and 150 fertile women referred to the Royan institute which is the referral center in Tehran, the capital of Iran, between 2015 and 2016. The sampling method was convenient. Women responded to the (SCL90) and sexual quality of life female (SQOL-F) questionnaires. Data were analyzed with SPSS software using Independent sample t-test.
  • Results: In general, the total score of sexual quality of life was higher in fertile women than infertile women. In subscales of SQOL-F only sexual satisfaction repression was significantly higher in fertile women (P=0.044). There was significantly higher scores in infertile women in all nine subscales of SCL90 including Hostility, Anxiety, Obsessive-compulsive, interspersed sensitivity somatization, psychoticism, paranoid ideation, depression and phobic anxiety (P<0.001).
  • Conclusion: Psychiatric symptoms such as anxiety, depression and etc. higher in infertile women than fertile women
