  • Introduction: The mental health of university students is an area of increasing concern worldwide. Social anxiety is a debilitating condition which ranks as the third most common mental health problem after depression and alcohol abuse. . Improving adolescent mental well-being remains a challenge for most societies. Test anxiety is one of the most common psychological problems among students, which can disturb the academic performance of a person and the success of the exam. . Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the test anxiety in students of the Health School of University of Medical Sciences .
  • Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 143 students from the Health School of University of Medical Sciences were studied by census method . The data collection tool was a questionnaire with 25 questions called Abolghasemi test anxiety. One-way ANOVA and idependent t-test were used for data analysis. The company has been voluntarily and informed with satisfaction. Also confident about the confidentiality of information and its ethical aspects. In order to collect data, anonymous questionnaire was used in this study. The first one was related to the individual characteristics of the questionnaire. The second part of Abolghasemi's Anxiety Inventory has 25 questions. Reliability and validity of the questionnaires were considered in the previous study. The reliability of the test was 0.88 and the internal consistency of 0.95 and the standard validity of 0.72.
  • Results: The mean and standard deviation of the students' age was 20.71±3.53. 16 (11.2%) students did not have test anxiety, 68 (47.5%) had low anxiety, 38 (26.6%) had moderate anxiety, and 21 (14.7%) had high anxiety. A significant relationship was found between gender (p=0.003), semester (p=0.038), father's education (p=0.042), mother's education (p=0.033), taking sedative drugs (p=0.004), and quiz environment (p=0.039) and the level of exam anxiety. Of the 143 students studied, 71.3% (102) girls and 28.7% (41 cases) were boys. The mean and standard deviation of the subjects were 20.71 ± 3.53 years and range from 37 to 18 years. In this study, 131 (91.6%) were single and the rest were married.
  • Conclusion: Given the high prevalence of anxiety among students and due to the negative impact of anxiety on academic performance of students, psychology classes before exams are recommended by supervisors and advisers. Considering the high level of anxiety in female students, they have got to get more attention. Considering the fact that the majority of the students studied have some degree of test anxiety, it is suggested that the professors of the Guidance and the university advisers prepare students with training courses and counseling in this field mentally to prepare the examinations to less anxiety. To be Also, considering that girls' students seemed to be more anxious than boys, they had male students. Counseling offices at universities and the use of specialist staff and the establishment of a hospital for identifying anxiety disorders in female students could help to resolve their anxiety problem.
