  • Introduction: Abstract Aim: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease that affects approximately 1-0.5% of the world's population and occurs more in women than men and causes chronic synovial inflammation that eventually leads to destruction And disability is detailed. In this review article, we examine the genes involved in RA.
  • Methods: Method: This research is a review study, Iranian and foreign databases such as PUBMED, NCBI, etc. have been used in this research to collect information.
  • Results: Results: According to the findings, the cause of this disease is the interaction between the patients' genotype and the environment. Many genes that play a role in this disease can be placed in common biological networks, and considering the key role of tissue-compatible genes in the occurrence of autoimmune diseases, the largest group of these genes is HLA alleles, in addition, several studies The correlations have confirmed the role of other non-HLA genes in RA susceptibility, among the 31 confirmed non-HLA loci in RA, the strongest correlation was found with PTPN22 and IL23R genes. The most relevant polymorphisms associated with RA are: IRF5,CTL4, TRAF1,PAD14.
  • Conclusion: Conclusion: According to heritability studies, the heredity of RA is estimated to be about 60%, and since the overall mortality in patients with rheumatoid arthritis is three times higher than the general population, it is very important to diagnose it quickly and use molecular methods. It is important in accurate and timely diagnosis of this disease.
