Abstract

Introduction

Zinc oxide nanoparticles have numerous applications in medicine and industry. these materials are delivered to the tissues via blood circulation systems after entering the body. since there has been little research on the effect of nanoparticles on reproductive organs, in this study, the apoptotic effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles on on expression of proapoptotic bax and bcl-2 in testicular tissue of nmri adult mice were studied

Methods

In this experimental study, 30 adult male nmri mice were used. they were divided into 5 groups(n=6): as control, sham, and three experimental, which received different doses of zinc oxide nanoparticles (250, 500, 750 mg/kg) using intraperitoneal injection. one week after injection, rna extracted and cdna synthesized and the synthesized products were evaluated by real time pcr to investigate the level of gene expression, and then, the results were evaluated by rest software.

Results

Bax expression in 700 mg/kg dose in testicular tissues was significant in comparison with the control group. (p=0.000)

Conclusion

By causing apoptosis in testicular tissue cells, zinc oxide nanoparticle can cause damage in reproductive systems of individuals exposed to this nanoparticles.
