The role of human papillomavirus vaccination on cervical cancer: a systematic review

Abstract


Introduction

According to international agency for research on cancer (iarc), cervical cancer is the forth reason of death because of cancer in women. association between cervical cancer and human papilloma virus (hpv) is defined (or determined). the aim of this study is investigation the role of hpv vaccine in cervical cancer.

Methods

This is a systematic article by using the english key words, cervical cancer, hpv prevention in the data bases science direct, isi, pub med and google scholar and persian equals in sid, magiran and google scholar from the year 2000 to 2017. after initial studies by two independent people, from 144 articles 61 articles in abstract and full text were included in the study based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. report of the data qualitatively was performed.

Results

in all 61 articles, cervarix dual vaccine from 16/18 hpv along with reciprocal protection and quad gardasil vaccine from 6/11/16/18 hpv have been approved for hpv protection. the vaccine grdasil9 for protection against 9 types of hpv in mentioned in 6 articles. the ideal age for vaccine injection is 9 years old and maximum before sexual activity begins and as the age increases, one dose is added.

Conclusion

According to definitive effect of vaccine in cervical cancer prevention, necessary policies should be taken to encourage society to use it. currently due to lack of therapeutic vaccines screening should continue.
