Tellurium nano particles (tnps) have pharmaceutical, medical, industrial and environmental importance. tellurium has also indications of traditional homeopathic usage. tellurium and selenium are two basic components of solar cells. as solar cell industries expand over the next decades, increasing demand for tnps is inevitable. some organisms can incorporate tellurium in place of sulfur and selenium into amino acids such as telluro-cysteine and telluro-methionine. some streptomycetes take up tellurium ions and reduce them to elemental tellurium, tnps.


Biosynthesis of tnps performed in a green procedure using culture biomass of streptomyces isolate bh8 to reduce 0.002 m potassium tellurite. tem, sem, dls, and uv-visible spectroscopy used to characterize biosynthesized tnps.


Characterization of biosynthesized tnps indicated that: color of tnps was dark black, uv-visible spectroscopy spectrum indicated no specific peak, tem, sem indicated amorphous particles and dls revealed average particle size of 50.5 nm.


This study reveals a green synthesis to produce tnps having no harm to environment; however, this technique is an early step in this approach and needs be optimized in future investigations for scale up production of tnps.
