• Use of UL144 molecular typing method for detection of Epidemiological out break of cytomcgalovirus in kidney transplant patients in tabriz Iran during 2016_2018

  • Introduction: Two-thirds of successful kidney transplants are microbial infections. These symptoms usually appear in the first year after transplantation. In fact, this is due to severe suppression of the immune system to control and prevent graft rejection.CMV Double-stranded DNA has the most common cause of congenital CMV infection. The CMV spread is very slow compared to other herpes viruses.CMV stays secreted in the blood monocytes after it enters the human body and causes primary infection and is transmitted to others.
  • Methods: In the present study, 226 renal failure patients undergoing renal transplantation were selected And blood and urine samples were taken from them. And were immediately used for RNA and DNA extraction. Finally, the samples were assayed for presence of CMV virus, viral load and genotype UL55 and UL144 of CMV virus using Real Time PCR Molecular Tests, and PCR for UL144 and UL55, respectively.
  • Results: Examination of the prevalence of CMV virus showed Out of 226 cases, 40 (17/7%) were infected with CMV, Examination showed viral load Lowest load The virus was 36 (copies / ml) and the highest was 129245276 (copies / ml) UL144 genotype analysis showed that out of 40 CMV viruses, two had UL144 genotype. None had the UL55 genotype.
  • Conclusion: In general, prevalence and viral load of CMV virus in Tbriz patients is lower than in other regions of Iran, However, the risk of rejection and nephropathy in these patients remains high. Therefore, it is necessary to check the viral load of CMV virus before organ transplantation and administration of immunosuppressive drugs.
