Abstract
Introduction
Ventilator-associated pneumonia(vap) is the most common infection in intensive care unit patients associated with high morbidity rates and elevated economic costs. in the research investigated a rapid detection of the common pathogens in vap by multiple polymerase chain reaction(m-pcr)
Methods
We performed m-pcr for 21 bal samples from intensive care unit of loghman hospital during january 2017 until march 2017. m-pcr were designed to detect , klebsiella pneumonia, staphylococcus aureus and pseudomonas aeruginosa respectively.
Results
Multiplex pcr detected 4 cases of k pneumoniae , 2 cases of s.aureus,1 p. aeruginosa, 2 cases of k. pneumoniae and s. aureus, 3 cases of k.pneumoniae and p. aeruginosa ,0 case of s. aureus and p. aeruginosa. 1 case of k.pneumoniae and p. aeruginosa and s. aureus.
Conclusion
Klebsiella pneumonia was the most frequent detected pathogen. multiplex pcr is rapid test for detecting the etiological agents , of vap.
