Campylobacter species, especially c. jejuni and c. coli, are the most common bacterial causes of gastroenteritis in recent years, macrolid and fluoroquinolones resistance has emerged among many pathogenic and nonpathogenic species of iran, limited studies have been determined antibiotic resistance of these bacteria, therefore, this study aimed to determine the frequency of macrolid and fluoroquinolones resistance and to investigate genotypic determinant of macrolid and fluoroquinolones resistance in campylobacters isolated from the stools of the dysenteric patients admitted to educational and medical centers in arak, iran

In this descriptive cross-sectional study, diarrheal stool specimens of the patients admitted to educational and medical centers in arak in the period from may 2015 to sep.2015 were collected and after phenotypic(using a mccda specific culture medium( and genotypic(using the specific genes mapa and ceue to identify campylobacter jejuni and coli, respectively( investigation of campylobacter, resistance to macrolid and fluoroquinolones was assessed using disk diffusion method. in addition,23srrna and gyra genes contributing to macrolid and fluoroquinolones resistance in campylobacter were also investigated

Out of 108 dysenteric stool specimens, 28 (25.92%) campylobacter were isolated of which 26 (24.07%) were c. jejuni and 2 (1.85%) were c. coli.phenotypic macrolid and fluoroquinolones resistance prevalence in c. jejuni was obtained as 18 (64.28%) ,17 (60.71%)and in c. coli as 2 (7.1%) of all 2 types of resistance respectively.frequency of,23srrna macrolid and gyra fluoroquinolones resistance gene was found as 16 (57.14%),15 (83.33%) and 1(50%),1(50%) in c. jejuni and c. coli, respectively

This study showed beta-lactamase resistance in campylobacter isolates.this is very useful data for empirical therapy and demanding comprehensive study with more samples size to be accomplished
