Abstract

Introduction

As the unusual increase in using antibiotics has been suggested as an indicative factor in appearing antibiotic resistance, and resistance to the antibiotics increases the probability of the patients’ death during the treatment period and also the treatment expenses

Methods

, the frequency of using antibiotics was determined as a periodical descriptive study during the first two months of 1396 in all of the units of namazi holspital in order to identify the units with most antibiotic usage and in danger of antibiotic resistance. the infection control group in the current study revised using all of the requested antibiotic ampoules and vials in all units.all antibiotic requests in every unit in namazi hospital (except for a & e units) as tablets, capsules, ampules or vial is provided. as a result, all of the requests from the units was studied during the first semester of the year 1396

Results

. the frequency of all of the used antibiotics registered all-over the hospital was 158893, among which the most usage frequency reported, subsequently is as follows: surgry3, transplant icu, cosmetic surgery ,digestive ward and at last heamatology1. it may be interesting to know that the most consumed antibiotics reported through this study, subsequently are: meropenem 15992 cases, vancomysin 15017 cases, clindamysin 13392 cases, metronindazol 9084 cases, sephteriacsol 4821 cases.

Conclusion

. according to this statistics, some specific management politics should be applied in prescribing antibiotics especially frequently consuming ones, so that we should not meet any antibiotic resistance in the mentioned units and against the common antibiotics too.
