Abstract

Introduction

Today, the global trend towards the use of herbal medicines for treating diseases has tended, while developed countries prefer the use of these drugs to chemical drugs, pineapple from tropical fruits. it also has important chemical compounds to protect the body, identifying fruits and plants containing beneficial compounds can be the basis for producing drugs against chronic diseases, including cancer. in this study we investigated the effect of extract of this fruit on cancer cells

Methods

Methods: extraction with water and ethanol solvent was performed at 50:50 for 7 hours. the a2780 cell line was prepared from the pasteur institute the extract was diluted 10, 30, 50, 100% for 24, 48, 72 hours. then, the mtt method was used for evaluation of cytotoxicity and statistical analyzes were done in spss software.

Results

Results: it was found that pineapple extract can produce highly effective cellular cytotoxicity for ovarian cancer cells, the amount of dilution of the extract has a direct relationship with the amount of cell death, and cell death has increased over a longer period of time.

Conclusion

it is hoped that pharmacists will use medicinal herbs and their active ingredients to produce drugs, and this will lead to the development of more effective drugs against chronic diseases, including cancer.
