Abstract

Introduction

Brucellosis is one of the common diseases of man and animals are caused by bacteria of the genus brucella. the purpose of this study was to split and determine antibiotic susceptibility and resistance of brucella isolated in the markazi province

Methods

In this study during the spring and summer of 2014, a total of 80 samples from suspected human and animal brucellosis 71 isolates were obtained and subjected to determine antibiotic resistance pattern using disk diffusion method.

Results

With antibiogram testing, samples were sensitive to minocycline, gentamicin, tigecycline, 100% and to doxycycline as 94.37% compared to ceftriaxone, cefixime, streptomycin and chloramphenicol 73.24%, for rifampin; 46.48%, erythromycin, 32.39% and were resistant 100% to cloxacillin.

Conclusion

According to the conculusion in this area, rifampine, erythromycin and cloxacillin can’t be as perfect drugs for treatment of brucellosis in this province and maybe prescription of them cause to increase illness or failure of treatment.
