Abstract

Introduction

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is one of the most common behavioral disorders in children, which is associated with a reduction in the accuracy and focus of learning. genetic factors influence the onset and development of this disease. one of the most important genetic factors in the occurrence of this disease is mutation in the mthfr gene. therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between mthfr gene polymorphisms t677c and c1298a with adhd disease

Methods

In this study, 100 children with adhd referred to imam hossein hospital as a patients group and 100 children from talented school were selected as a control group. dna extraction was carried out from sterile salivaand samples then the genotype in t677c and c1298a positions was determined using pcr-arms and chi squared( x2 ) was used as statistical methods for data analysis

Results

The results of t677c polymorphism showed that the tt genotype was significantly more important in patients than healthy individuals. in the case of c1298a polymorphism, the results showed a higher significance for aa genotypes and ac genotypes in patients. also, the results showed that the presence of c allele in the c1298a position was significantly more important in patients than healthy individuals. (p<0.05)

Conclusion

Mutation in the mthfr gene can increase the risk of developing adhd. the presence of c alleles may also be prone to adhd
