Abstract
Introduction
Cancer is one of the main causes of death and disability in iran and the world. this study was conducted to evaluate the frequency of deaths from cancer in bandar anzali in 2014.
Methods
This study was an analytical descriptive. information was collected from the death certificates and mortality registration system in bandar anzali city. they were analyzed by spss 19 software.
Results
In this study, the majority of deaths from cancer were men (56%) and lived in city (69%). more than 40% of the deaths from cancer were related to the gastrointestinal tract. moreover, gastric cancer (15.4%), colorectal cancer (14.7%), and lung cancer (12.5%) were more common in comparison to other cancers.
Conclusion
The study showed that the most deadly cancers in bandar anzali were gastric and colon cancer. these could be controlled and prevention of early death by educational interventions, screening for early diagnosis, thereby treatment in younger patients.
