Abstract

Introduction

Gold nano particles (aunps) are being considered for cancer treatments for targeted drug delivery in pharmacology and medicine. aunps are also used in industries, agriculture, electronics and wide range of research fields. the goal of this research was to prepare gold nanoparticles in a green procedure simple, green and economically feasible procedure by water extract of common nettle (urtica dioica) leaves.

Methods

In this research to biosynthesize aunps, the following procedures performed: 1) biosynthesis of aunps performed using water extracts of urtica dioica leaves (urticaceae) to reduce 0.1 m haucl4+, 2) evaluation of aunps by uv-visible spectroscopy, 3) transmission electron microscope to characterize properties of synthesized colloidal aunps and 4) statistical analysis to determine particle size distribution of produced aunps.

Results

Physical and intuitive characterization of produced aunps indicated that: 1) color of green synthesized aunps was violet, 2) uv-visible spectroscopy revealed a prominent peak at 540 nm for the colloidal aunps, 3) tem electro micrographs revealed average particle size of 30.5 nm.

Conclusion

We performed a biosynthesis procedure which is a green-environmentally safe method to produce aunps; however, this technique in an elementary approach and should be optimized in future investigations for mass production.
