Abstract

Introduction

Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancy diseases world and is the second leading cause of cancer in women. silymarin is a flavonoid extracted from milk thistle and about 90% of it is a combination called silibinin, a natural polyphenol with high antioxidants and anti-cancer properties, which inhibits cell cycle and apoptosis in many cancer cells, including breast cancer. the hipoo signaling pathway is responsible for controlling tissue size by regulating cell proliferation and apoptosis, resulting in profound effects on the fate of normal cells and digestion.

Methods

The mtt assey was used at 24, 48 and 72 hours, and doses of 50-300 micro m to determine the ic50 silybinin , and the expression of genes was considered.

Results

Silibinin in 48 hours has the most effective effect on spheroids mcf7 and t47d, and ic50 was estimated 257 after 48 hours of treatment .

Conclusion

Silibinin has an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of cancer cells, including breast cancer. it also affects on the expression of signaling pathways genes.
